Best Mike Tyson performance

Someone asked me this at work the other day. Obvioyusly any fight between November 1986 and June '88 would be contenders for this accolade. The one that stands out for me is the Tyrell Biggs bout. Something in the way Tyson went about methodically grinding Biggs down. ?

 

that or holmes even though holmes was way past it he dominated.

 

Biggs is one, and the way he dismantled Larry Holmes...a past it Larry or not...was very impressive...but my personal favorite was the way he pulverized Pinklon Thomas..an awesome performance to me.

 

The Thomas blitz at the end was incredible the amount of punches and the accuracy....

What a magnificent performance it was..Tyson was so assured of himself..like a hired killer.

 

Look at Tysons arms when hes finishing him off.

He learned how to separate his arms completely from his body in a sense. What an incredible fighter

 

Tyson was most unspectacular in rounds 2-5 against Thomas though.

 

Ive always felt Berbick was his best performance
i mean he made him do a triple chicken dance

that to me summed up Mike Tyson, pure rage, a hungry man wanting revenge on the world, just absolute fury. I think the Berbick fight has become very underrated recently

 

Biggs or Tubbs

 

I think his finishing of Pinklon Thomas was impressive.
As was Thomas's chin.

 

I think his annihilation of Spinks is his best performance. He was done in record time, was never in danger, and I think he could replicate that performance if needed. At least come close.

Spinks at heavyweight was still a worthy opponent. Styles were on Tyson's side, but so were they on Foremans when he butchered Frazier.

Massive win.

 

Blood Green: 10 rounds of nonstop offense.

Reggie Gross: highlight reel knockout for the ages.

Jose Ribalta: a big heavyweight who took Tyson's barrage and kept coming back for more, so Mike obliged and kept giving him more.

Trevor Berbick: probably the most aesthetically pleasing knockout I have ever seen.

Pinklon Thomas: as far as game opponents go, Pinkie was on top of it and came to fight.

Tyrell Biggs: made him pay for snubbing Tyson at the Olympics. Brutal methodical beat down.

Larry Holmes: did what no one has ever done. Holmes may have been old but the passing of the torch went according to plan.

Tony Tubbs: excellent infighting victory. Tubbs came to fight and got poleaxed for it.

Michael Spinks: The Superfight. Nuff said.

Razor Ruddock: proved Mike can take a mulekick.

*Clifford Etienne: impressive finish from a ghost of a shell.

 

it was a brutal finish. However I have always found it a touch wild and ungainly sequence. what took the edge off it for me was pinklon dislocating his right shoulder just moments before rendering him a virtual sitting duck. tyson was pin point and savage but crossing his leggs and teeing off southpaw. until then it was quite tepid.

I prefer Tyson against green. lots of workrate, focus, stamina and speed.

against tonny tucker, because he fought very good and he was facing a good fighter, not a shot like holmes or a lhw like spinks.
