Who do you think went the furthest with the least pretty much? The fighter who wasn't very versatile in their repertoire but still achieved a lot

Not sure I think any of these men are one dimensional. When I think one dimensional I think Wilder or Max Baer. Maybe someone like Jermaine Taylor or Cooney comes to mind or Lastarza. People’s who’s games r based solely on one type of punch or just their power or just their defense and nothing else. People like Wlad Frazier and Rocky had multiple punches they used excellent defense. Frazier generally had his left but he was clever w it and not in any way one dimensional

I have no idea if you are right or wrong but anybody who can link Roland La Starza to Jermain Taylor deserves kudos. Well done

When you watch Rocky Marciano I believe you’ll see someone who only had one way available to fight with.

Most boxers have ' their own style ' and that's about it
Very few step out of that.
I understand the concept of your question however and the first name that came to my mind was Frank Bruno.

Willie Pep was kind of one-dimensional depending on how you want to define that term (stick-and-move guy) but what a dimension it was.

It all comes down to what we want to call one-dimensional. If that means ‘guy with limited skills but big punch,’ then it sways the discussion one way, or ‘pressure fighter’ then it goes another. But I figure a fleet-footed guy who moved like Willie was no less one-dimensional than a Jeff Fenech/Henry Armstrong type who just tore into people and stayed on their chests (that’s an oversimplification of them, but essentially that’s what they were).

First guy that I thought of. Everything offensively was geared around that right hand.

If we define one dimensionsal as only being able to fight in one style and then look down my all time p4p list, starting at the greatest:

    1. SRR - Could adopt the styles of puncher, boxer-puncher, brawler and pure boxer.
    2. Greb - It is difficult to be certain in the absence of film, but my guess is he could box and brawl/adopt the style of a high volume pressure fighter.
    3. Langford - Could fight as a pure puncher, counter punching trap setter or boxer-puncher.
    4. Armstrong - I can't imagine Armstrong adopting any other style than a high volume, front foot, pressure fighter.

On that basis, I think Henry Armstrong is p4p the greatest boxer whose style could reasonably be described as one dimensionsal, albeit the skillset within that single dimension was most certainly multi faceted.
