Beterbiev's promoter Yvon Michel says that he is more than willing to put his fighter in there with Kovalev. He says fighting in Russia and on HBO is not a problem. They also understand that they will have to take short money. Michel also says that they will agree to a rematch clause, but no options. I think it's a little early for this fight, but if both fighters want to make it happen, then let's make it happen.

Told you he'd be willing to fight on HBO, why would he refuse the chance to fight for three titles just because the guy fights on a different network, Kovalev is the a-side here so compromise is expected from his promoter.

The thing that I hate about this though, even though Beterbiev is clearly an excellent boxer, people will blow off this win like "Beterbiev wasn't proven" or "he was green", guarantee it.

It's a risky fight with little reward for Kovalev.

Nah beterbiev is the kind of guy that would give anyone at 175 hell. People who know boxing know this.

Wonder if Haymon is allowing this?

As an aside, does anyone else think Beterbiev and Haymon seem strange bedfellows? Haymon is mainly a guy you have if you want to duck certain fights whereas Beterbiev seems like he will fight anybody.

Beterbiev wants to get paid and get on TV like every other boxer.

Haymon is the one providing that these days

If there are certain fights you want to avoid, you sign with Haymon and he avoids them for you.
