I'm pretty new to the sport, but is this guy supposed to be decent? he looks in terrible shape. I know there's guys in here know there mma, and i'm not trying to take the **** out of the sport. I respect that the best seem to fight the best, which is more than i can say for boxing at the moment! But can anyone please tell me how this guy belongs in the octagon with frank mir?
It isn't a fashion show, he is doing a job and he has won enough fights to get to this level, but unless he puts those pizzas down he isn't going any further.
Chreers pal for responding. As i say i'm new to the sport, but becoming a fan. Each fight i've seen tonight has been pretty evenly matched, but this fight seemed like a mismatch from the start.
Fashion show or not, no one coming in that sloppy is putting it all into their training. Lay off the McDonalds. That fight was uncomfortable to watch.
He's had a decent career. His fat ass masks his good skills in a lot of cases, but he is a good fighter. That said I fully expect him to be cut from the UFC after this performance. Or maybe he gets one more shot...but he's on thin ice.
Its not even that but the additional weight means he's fighting above his natural weight class. He just doesn't have the frame to be a heavyweight.
Big country was given a chance to get in shape fight former world champ Frank Mir.... but he decided not to. Most fighters are in shape but ol' Big Country must have bad management. Someone must have told him how to eat.
Roy has always come into fights looking like that..but his hand speed looked good. Tonight he looked like he never did any work. His hand speed made me look fast. Only thing Roy did well tonight was Take Knees to the face over and over. He is one hard as Nails SOB..but needs to be ready to fight....and he didn't look like he was ready.
Yeah, that's what i'm saying pal, i've noticed most guy's come in shape and ready to fight. Has he got no motivation? I respect these guy's, they seem to lay it all on the line. But this fella seemed to come in and not even give it a go. Is he just passed it? ( genuine question, as i don't know his history)

My guess, he is in it for the money, doesn't enjoy training but has enough experience to win against contenders on his good days. That and in the HW division with those gloves you don't need a great shot to end a fight. And he can always get lucky.
