Riddick Bowe, Max Baer, and Mike Tyson, to a lesser degree (only because he still achieved a great deal)
Zab Judah. He had ALL the talent in the world...one of the most naturally talented fighters I have ever seen. Speed, power, reflexes, technique, etc. He had it all. But never had the mental makeup or the chin. Sad, because just off pure god given ability, he could have been something truely special.
Maybe Kirk Johnson. Being so uninspired and gaining al that weight took away his fighting advantages, speed and movement.
Golota (nut case, literally), Vitali Klitschko (injuries), Ibeabuchi (another nut case, maybe brain damage from the Tua fight?). I won't list Tyson as he does have tremendous accomplishments: dominating what was a boring heavyweight division and absolutely cleaning the house like no on did in history between '86 and '90. Only Holyfield and Witherspoon he didn't fight during that period. Holyfield had just recently moved up in weight and they were supposed to fight after the Douglas fight, but Tyson lost. And Witherspoon lost by first round knockout in '89, so can't really blame him. I don't think Bowe belongs. While he could've achieved somewhat more, i think his defense has always been very weak as shown by the fact that even journeymen had 50% connect percentages against him, and as a consequence of that, he had a very short career. He always fed off easy opponents with the exception of Holyfield, who by the way, was seen as a relatively easy opponent as well back then. The eating didn't help of course. And ducking Lewis was a choice of his.
Of recent times, I'd throw Dominick Guinn into the mix. For a heavy who can throw combinations, has power and can take an unexpected bat to the head without going down, he is awful content to go to sleep everytime the slightest amount of pressure is put on him to win an important fight.
