Following on from O'hara Davies defeat (which by all means wasn't a massive upset as Barroso has shown over time he's got KO power, he's just towards the end of his career now), what would you say comes to mind when you think of the biggest boxing upset?

I'm going for the obvious here but Khan vs. Prescott springs to mind first for me. Prescott was an absolute nobody before that fight and it was Khan's Sky Box Office debut.

    Another obvious pick is AJ-Ruiz.

What other big upsets can you think of?

Those 2, but I remember people were questioning if khan could handle this "big puncher" at the time. Obviously he couldn't haha.

Since I thought fury lost his last fight, I'd go with that.

Khan v Prescott and Joshua v Ruiz were simply astonishing bringing a real sense of shock as to what unfolded.

Another classic from the females was Natasha Jonas being stopped by Vivianne Obenhauf who was on the TV a few months earlier being destroyed by Chantelle Cameron in her 5th fight.

She looked like a little girl there to make Jonas look good and never read the script with her odds on Betfair touching 200/1 pre fight.

In British boxing and in modern times.

    Honeyghan v Curry
    AJ v Ruiz
    Haye v Bellew (first fight)
    Klitschko v Fury

AJ v Ruiz probably tops the lot. Haye v Bellew first fight was a huge upset on paper but the injury obviously had a massive bearing so it wasn’t the crazy upset it would have been if Bellew knocked out Haye would no injury. The second fight wasn’t an upset, most people doubted whether Haye had recovered properly.

Fury v Klitschko was a seismic shock that most didn’t see coming, although it would have been more shocking had it been a KO win.

Lewis - Rahman to add to those already suggested.

    Duran - Laing.

Tyson/Buster Douglas is another obvious one in the world realm.

Obenhauf is also seriously hot, but now in jail for murder (not that this has anything to do with the thread).

Before my time, but Honeyghan over Curry and when I was younger Benn v McClellan. No one gave the Dark Destroyer a chance in that one.

That Obenhauf murder news has shocked me more than any boxing upsets.

She was always the underdog with a smile on her face when she fought in the UK.

There is never any justification to murder someone but intrigued as to the reason why she done this.

Cannot believe what I have just read.

I cannot imagine that 25 year age gaps in marriages don’t have issues, however that is brutal and awful.

Randy Turpin beating world no 1 at the time and by many still regarded as the P4P best ever boxer in Sugar Ray Robinson was a huge shock at the time. Turpin was obviously very good.

Kirkland Laing beating another P4P great in Roberto Duran was another big shock at the time.

Khan talks about the Prescott fight in his book. Says him and Warren had Barrera lined up but his new coach at the time, Jorge Rubio, insisted on Prescott. They then parted ways after the fight
