Who were some boxers that had GREAT potential, but threw it all away?

Vantage I thought Tyrone Trice was kind of brave. Zahir Raheem but not by his own doing, politics, I know he is still active but he'll never get the big fight he deserves

For me, far and away it is Jose Luis Lopez. Great chin and a right hand easily ad lethal if not more than a prime Trinidad's left hook.

Cracked Ike Quartey's chin after being hammered for 10 rounds

    Max Baer.

Bigger than majority of the heavyweights of the time, stronger, longer reach, granite chin, one of the hardest right hands ever, decent speed, not suceptible to getting cut, very good stamina

Zab Judah is a common answer to this question, but I never really agreed

I've heard Max described as "an old hollywood pimp, who had to moonlight as the heavyweight champ for extra cash."

All the potential but the title and legacy didn't seem to mean as much to him as it would have others.

    Buster Douglas?

He had all the tools, but was very lazy.
Except against Tyson and we know how that worked out.
