I honestly beleive Penn will take Hughes apart in this fight , while i dont like BJ @70 , Hughes is shot , Penn is a better fighter now than he was when they last fought and Hughes is not half the man he was back then . Ive said in the past that Penn will never be the LW champion again , i do beleive that to be true , and while thinking of Penn being blown away by the current top WW's (Fitch , Alves , GSP , and the likes) i think if he picks and chooses his fights wisely @170 , he is still popular and still marketable . Ive got Penn UD with a couple of KD's and near finishes . Could spell the end for Hughes this one ............... :deal
i saw this fight coming i told my buddies after penn/edgar 2.i must say im excited about this fight but anytime bj fights i will watch,hell he could fight a pillow and i would tune in to see it lol
Bj by submission. Bj is still the same bj penn, edgar was just a bad match up for him. Hughes is too old now but he could still fight. I still see bj choking out hughes. Last time they fought bj still had cardio problem. Bj can fight for 5 full rounds now without gassing out. Bj by submission either armbar or rear naked choke.
Penn's last 3 fights may have went 5 rounds but the pace of those fights were nothing compared to what is waiting for him at 170. Penn's gas tank at 170 isn't very good. He's lost his last 3 fights at 170, and got stopped in his last 2 appearances there. Guys like Hughes and GSP can push him differently than he's used to. Penn can be very competitive at 170 and can possibly be great there too, but he's gonna be in for some wars. I don't see him treating those bigger guys like he did Pulver, Stevenson, Sherk, Florian and Sanchez. Hughes is a perfect test to see where Penn is in all area's, cardio included. We'll see if Penn can keep up.
his cardio is always up in the air before a fight,but coming off two losses dont be suprised if he runs right through hughes in dominate fasion
Penn would still beat Florian and most likely Maynard. Edgar just had is damn number. Too fast on his feet, too tight and compact on the ground...which allowed him to easily defend. Don't right off BJ yet at LW. I say if Maynard wins, things can become undone quickly down there and BJ may be thrown right back down in the mix
I think Edgar beats Maynard easily , he is a much much different animal now than he was then , i was watching Edgar vs Fisher last night and thinking holy **** how good is Edgar now ?? :shock: I dont like Maynard at all in this fight , ive got Edgar by a decision in a boring fight ................... Actually i think your right about Penn @55 , but if he runs into Frankie again , what does he do ???
What's all this about? I was under the impression Hughes was taking a while off? Seems a bit soon for Penn, doesn't it? Especially if he's going up in weight. Pointless fight, I feel, especially as they've fought twice already. I think Penn's gonna get strangled, it's gonna be a Diego Sanchez like performance. I have the sneaking suspicion he's done.
I think for Hughes to win he needs to take BJ down and GnP, but that's going to be a mission on its own. Hughes stand up is not on the same planet as BJ's and I doubt he'll be able to sub Penn and if it goes to decision I believe BJ's boxing will probably be the deciding factor.
Coleman is old but he did beat Bonnar so despite being well past his best, a win like that does keep him relevant. It's a joke that the UFC make him main event then cut him. How can any main event fighter then be cut after losing. It completely ****s up the credibility of the main event. BJ-Hughes makes sense as people think they are both past their best.
hughes has been a terrific fighter but i hope he loses big-time, thats because he is a very nasty person. i've lost all respect for him.
