    ...... looks like he was a heck of a good fighter to me. His first fight with Joe Louis was a disappointing performance for both men really, in light of the better action and effort put forth in their championship fight three years later.

    The thing that impresses me most about Pastor is the pure courage - heart, will to win - he showed here. He's calm under fire and gets up from some shots in the first two rounds that no one really has any business getting up from. That right hand in round two is montrous ! (better I think than the one that KO'd him in round 11).
    For a fighter to take an early shellacking like that and come back into the fight not just trying to survive and not overly gun shy is an impressive trait. He gives Louis a damn good fight.

    Pastor is definitely one of the better heavyweight contenders of the period in my opinion.

    He was fighting all the oponents that the other top contenders didn't want to fight and the well managed fighters were generaly steered clear of him.
