Have some time on my hands and am an avid reader. Only post/troll in the general but you guys are treated with awe and disdain by the general guy so I know you know whats going on.

I'm looking for something to read. Anything. Bio's, historical accounts, whatever you can think of. Doesn't matter how obscure it is, I'll find it.

    Appreciate the help in advance.

"In this Corner" by Peter Heller is the best thing on boxing I've ever read. Each chapter is a profile of a different fighter, told in their own words, so Heller hardly "wrote" the thing as such, he just turned the tape recorder on.

Really interesting to read their differing stances on life in boxing ranging from the 1920's to the 60's. Amazing read.

It's out of print now, but you can find it on Amazon, etc.

I would recommend Unforgivable Blackness, a rather good Jack Johnson bio.

A few months back I finished Makinde's Dick Tiger bio (The life and times of a boxing Immortal), again an excellent read.

There's a bio of Tiger? Great, thanks for mentioning, I have to get that! One of my favorites.

Makinde is clearly besotted by Tiger. But produces new material and does play it neutral in enough parts for the reader to over look this and appreciate the man and his flaws, and come to their own conclusions.
