Who wins? And why...my thoughts are that the boxer wins...but my head says why would a boxer win against someone that can also use their feet to kick you in the head? I remember Ray Mercer getting KO'd in 1 round against erm I forget the name but he was a big name in kick boxing. Mercer was way past prime granted but still he couldn't handle being kicked in the head. Vitali was a kick boxing world champion some years before he became a pro boxer...so my impression is that boxers are more advanced in their boxing skills than the kick boxer is. Anyways discuss...
Very hard to say... am interested to hear the opinions on those who know more about kickboxing than I do.
Gee this is a tough one but I imagine if kicking is allowed in the proposed fight that the kickboxer would have a slight advantage. Just a crazy assumption
the man was REMY BONJASKY who also kicked Botha's ass.. I think it's hard to tell though because both botha and mercer were washed up fighters.. think it would be alot harder for Bonjasky to kick Tysons ass in his prime.. I think it depends more on the fighters than their styles.. maybe slightly advantage for a good boxer since they are both standing techniques..
By the way Mercer was not KO'D he just didn't seem like he wanted to continue after a left kick to the head.. probably never saw it coming and realized he was in for a long night against Bonjaskys long legs
Strange conclusion on your part though...Because vitali was a kickboxing champ BEFORE , boxing. Logic should indicate that it was just as easy for him when he gave boxing a try. By the way , he was brutally koed in kickboxing. It never happened to him as a boxer. (granted it was by high kick but it still was a ko) for the record...Povetkin is also an ex-kickboxer. Kickboxers clearly are not as polished as boxers with their punching technic but in a one on one fight. (that is , under kickboxing rules) , the kickboxer will often (not always but very often) have the advantage.

Depends on the individual.......... If you ask me who was the best fighter on the planet without doubt in 1988? I would have told u Tyson. Best fighter on the planet in 1998- Lennox Lewis Best fighter on the planet in 2008- Fedor Emilenko. Kickboxer, wrestler, bjj, boxer.......dosent matter.........what matters is the individual fighting!
True Latif.........combat is unlike other sports......basketball, football (soccer), NFL, baseball, atheltics, rugby etc... you lose one game and it dosent matter....you can win other throphies....or win the return match. In combat........the min you lose or look bad.......oh he is crap.......not all that.........when really it litterally can be just an off night, or mentally no up for it then an extreame view is taken. NO MAN is invincible................nothing is impossible......... Fedor lost a sambo fight just recently.........but so what....beaten the guy before.....and most likely will beat him in another tournament. Does everyone really think the fat wrestler who beat Kraenko....at 200 olympics was better .........no of course not.....but he did win. Leon Spinks is 1 - 1 with Muhammed Ali...........but Tyson would have taken him out in a round or two........... The only thing we can take....is consistency.....and reason + logic to determine things. For example of someone said to me.........who is the greatest fighter ever........i would say no one! Becuase we havent see this fighter yet or maybe never will. BUT i have a group of guys in my head.......that if i wanted to bet my life on.....or to take with me to some fighting tournament and.........then without i would take - Prime Ali 64-74 Prime Tyson 85-91 Prime L. The kickboxer will generally win handily provided both fighters are of a similar level in their respective sport. Boxers just can't handle leg kicks, and find it extremely difficult to close the distance on them. You have to be well versed in other areas to have a chance, which is why there have been quite a few boxing-oriented kickboxers that have had success, but never pure boxers.
Kickboxer's will get knocked out if they don't use their leg's proper.. The Boxer will K.O. 90% of all Combat sport's if they decide to slug. (In a standup, Balance is the key A Kickboxer does not have 100% balance) In their prime.. A Fighter like a Denis Alexio (Go Google) Or A Rick Roufus was the exception to the rule. Extremley Great With the hand's = Deadly with the feet! (Golden age of KB) Too bad they don't make them like that anymore...
