what with all the pullouts in the last couple of years this might sound like a stupid question but are fighters trainin too hard these days?? it feels like a fight is called off or a fighter pulls out every couple of weeks in recent times
Because many of them are already financially pretty secure before they achieve anything of note there is probably less motivation to ignore a niggly injury. You've only got to look at football, Arjen Robben will refuse to play unless he's 101% fit, whereas rugby players have been known to start games with a dislocated shoulder or broken jaw.
No i believe a lot of what's going on is fear. Fear of losing. They fear losing there credibility. Guys like PBF have made a who-ha out of unbeaten record. You look back to old days guys would train hardcore and fight with niggles but nowadays guys manage themselves and are quite content to pull out if they have a niggle. You look at Froch he's one of the last old school warriors in terms of fighting for love of sport. Many think lose a fight and that means there lose £££ and chance of titles etc. There's no way these guys train any harder then the guys back in other era's. Most fighters go into fights banged up. I think some guys reasoning for pulling out of fights isn't good enough but in saying that i'm not the one in the ring putting life on line but i know damn well that if these guys fought with worse niggles as Am's then they do now.
Yes so......Fear of Losing and being general ***gots. You only have to look at the Supersixx, they have a 150 billion year break....inbetween fights. Fighters train to hard these day..? give me a ****ing break. What a ****ing load of ****.
