Top pro fighters are a proud bunch, and it often seems they can't accept the fact that they got beat by a better man.
Let's name some boxers who have made excuses in the aftermath of losses and/or sub par performances.
In an impossible effort to not make this a Mayweather-Pac thread, let's get those two out of the way...
    Manny after May 2, shoulder
    Floyd after Castillo 1, shoulder
Now that is done, so I'll start with two more
George Foreman after Ali: drugged/ropes loose/quick count/took him light
Ali after Fazier I: "I landed more punches, bad dec/ he didn't really hurt me
Klitschko after Brewster: "Something was wrong with my stamina, I can't explain it"/ K-2 team openly expressed accusations of poisoning

    Whoops, that is 3 examples

dude, pac had surgery so i can't call that an excuse. sorry.

and floyd had a torn cuff in the castillo fight as well, so i can't call that that excuse either.

oh give them a break dan :bbb

some of those are fair statements,

i guess it depends, is the fighter "milking" these statements or did he just offer them up as a reality of how he thinks he could perform BETTER if he were to get a second chance which is always what a fighter that is worth his salt wants.

if a guy "milks" it i could understand where you're coming from

if a guy is simply offering up the reality of why he feels he performed poorly in a respectful way then i have no problem with what you refer to across the board as "excuses"

Well all I have left is an insensitive pile of curled up ashes and singed toenails thanks to your witty suggestion, I hope you can handle a dustpan and brush latineg. I didn't feel anything because my ankles were broken like Bradley, it was atonal.

I wasn't really differentiating between legit and not legit excuses. People act as if even if you have a legit reason for underperforming you fight with what you have and keep your excuses to your self. Perhaps that is the best way to handle it, but at the same time I think a top fighters ego doesn't typically alow him to accept the other guy is just better. I don't fault them for that personally unless they drone on and on about their excuse.
David Haye taking his boot off to show reporters his toe in the ring and again at the post fight press conference was redicilous.
