Is 20-21 a viable age to start boxing, if you worked really hard?

I dont see why not, id say that if you wanted to reach world title level then youd be up against it but i dont see why you couldnt become a decent enough pro starting at that age if you worked hard at it.

It would be tough to compete at a high level.

Well, Ray Mercer, Ron Lyle, Carl Williams and Boncrusher Smith all started their amateur careers in their 20's.

I think Jess Willard was pushing 30 when he took up boxing.

IMO, if you start boxing at a very young age, it's harder to become a big guy. If you play football during your youth, or start working out and then take up boxing when you're an adult, its easier to become a light heavyweight- heavyweight type fighter.

Yeah, it was a massacre, that they put an unexperienced Mundine in a ring with that Pitbull, IMO it ruined his career, without that fight Mundine would be the p4p-1st IMO...

Deontay Wilder will represent the US in the Olympics - at age 22. He had never boxed 2 years ago and was a route driver for Pepsi.

He came from a small converted gym but had good coaches and trainers - former journeymen pros who knew their stuff.

I believe he will have a successful career as a pro after the olympics.

If you have some natural athletic ability, determination, self discipline and time to put into it AND are lucky enough to find a good coach/trainer then it CAN happen...

A lot needs to go right - but it can happen.

Not if you want to compete in world class level.
