Boxing at 20?

So..Unfortunately as much as I would have liked to started my career as an amateur at 19 I won't be able to do it because I'm entering this program called "Job corps"..But that's dwelling into personal issues a bit too much. Now I'm sure I'll finish up the program within a year. Can I start up and amateur career at 20 and still make it to the Olympics?

 

Of course it's possible, but very unlikely. Aim big and give it 100%. If you believe you can achieve!

2020 olympics you would be 26, and 2024 olympics 30. I'd say it takes 4-10 years of hard training depending your talent, physical attributes etc to get to the top level. 30% Talent and 70% hard work?

I think there are many fighters who started late and still have made to the olympics. Usually its in the heavier weightclasses, because there is less competition.

 

That should workout perfectly seeing as how I'm a heavyweight. Thank you

if you train hard and dedicate your time to it you mite but even if you don't make it you will still be one hell of a athlete by then

 

Tom Stalker started boxing at the late age of 18 and captained the team GB Olympic boxing team in London 2012. Got done over by a bad judges decision though and should have gotten further than he did. Was also voted as amateur boxer of the year in either 2010 or 11.

Audley Harrison didn't start till 19 and won gold at the Sydney 2000 olympics 10 years later.

 

Ofcourse you can. Nothing is impossible. Martinez started boxing when he was 22.

 

Not to be a dick (although looking at your other posts you'll take it the wrong way anyway) but if you truly wanted to do well in boxing you'd be training your ass off right now, not looking for support from random names on an Internet forum.

There is no insight needed (also, you gain nothing from the question you asked). Nobody here knows your capabilities, nobody cares to know.

I know this is a bit silly in this day and age with the younger generation, but why don't you go and actually train and see how you do, instead of asking what's possible why don't you just ****ing try it for yoursefl?
