There is a good Nigel Benn documentary on YouTube about his life in and outside of the ring, about his brother's death, about him being suicidal and his army life.

maybe mate. This one was in 4 parts, telling the story of the HW title but roughly separated into 4 episodes dealing with Jack Johnson, Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis and Ali.

Nigel Benn: My Childhood. Shown on tv in early 2006. One of the most open, honest and frank interviews by a boxer ever. Very emotional. Well worth viewing for any Benn fan.

A couple of "outside the box" boxing documentaries I have enjoyed are:
"Blue Blood", a look at the Oxford amateur boxing team,
The one on Tony Booth Setanta did a couple of years ago,
"The Ring Within The Rings" - a look at the history of Olympic boxing and it's greats.
"Down The Street Of Dreams" a mid 90's production on Wayne McCullough

Yeah, it is outstanding. I haven't seen it in many years so may dig out my VHS recording sometime pretty soon :good

It is a great accompaniment to a beautiful pictorial book I have called "Crown Of Thorns", which is a superb photograph based book depicting the heavyweight champions through the ages and the "curse" it carries (highlighting the various misgivings, misfortune & tragedies etc that have befallen most heavyweight champions throughout history).

The documentary is in no way related, but is of a similar theme. But "Kings Of The Ring" is highly recommended. Loads of training footage and interviews of all the old time greats such as Dempsey, Louis, Johnson etc all the way up to Tyson. There's footage of Carnera boxing a real life kangaroo and I even recall footage of Max Baer "training" on the beach, digging sand - with a spoon!
