Great shout, that counts among those I'd forgot. Excellent film.

Good shout - I haven't seen that one yet, thanks for the reminder that I need to.

Yeah, got it on the list in post #1, and it's a really good one, not least for the footage of the Kid's son meeting Griffith.

    Keep them coming, guys.

I remember as a kid I was so desperate to see AKA Cassius Clay just to see the fight films of Ali which were kind of impossible to see back then

I'n gonna add all your nominations to the OP after a few days. Keep dropping any other good ones you can think of in the meantime.

You were a kid when it was released in 1970, or later on than that? UK or US guy?

I was an 11 year old kid from Philly in 1970. Fight films were really not available back then

Darn, you're around my mom's age. Mine's a spoiled generation, pretty much everything we could want to see is a click away. Then again, we don't get the thrill of the chase. I won't say that getting to see these things necessarily meant more back then, but there must've been an extra layer of satisfaction involved. Did you get to see a.k.a. Cassius Clay in the theater?

Great one, on the list in post #1.

The thrill of the chase was not much fun back then. Probably 10-15 years later before I actually saw it, maybe longer. Not like they threw it on tv right after it was in the theaters. Was a very frustrating time to be a young boxing fan. It got better in the late 70's, early 80's with all the tv boxing going on, but even then you had to be in front of a tv when the fight was on, not like you could tape it. Now with You Tube I can watch pretty much anything I want on my tv's and that is the best thing ever.

I'd love to have been around to see some of the great fights live at the gate or on closed circuit, but I won't say that I don't appreciate all the easy access to fight films granted to me by the era I've grown up in. As I type, I'm cuing up a crystal clear copy of the ABC telecast of Ali-Lyle with the HDMI hook-up from my hard drive to my TV set, and I know I'm lucky to be able to easily see this stuff in high quality whenever I like.
