Boxing History question

    After training today and not being able to sleep at night, I still had boxing on my mind when a question came to mind...

    Not saying I would do this of course but I wondered if in the past, some boxers would just go out in public to picks fights just so they could improve their boxing ability. This is highly dangerous and a felony to do nowadays but I was curious if anyone got away with doing it in the past.

    Street fighting and boxing are two different skill sets. When street fighters step in the ring with boxers, this tends to happen (from 1:25):

    So what your saying is..
    it would of been pretty much pointless cause the street fighter seemed to have no defense or balance at all?
