    must be taken pretty seriously:

"a local radio station reported that because of Bautista's defeat, his hometown of Candijay would not be getting a paved road leading into town. Provincial Governor Erico Aumentado promised befoe the fight the road would be paved by 2008 if Bautista brought home the title. On Sunday, Aumentado pushed the date back to 2010 and blamed Bautista's loss."

Shame. I would understand if it is something that is considered a luxury e.g. if Bautista wins his hometown gets have a boxing gym, etc.

But building roads is simply a government responsibility, whether a boxer wins or not.

Shame really. Now people in that town can blame the poor Bautista who tried to do the best he can. :-(

I thought that was pretty nutty. Sounds like a Maoist state or something. Crazy.

boomboom's neighbors in candijay and the mayor are really ****ed even before this event. that is the main reason boom moved to tagbilaran because he can't take the crab mentality of his ****ed up neighbors and the local government esp the mayor.

    i'll try to explain

governor bets a fortune for a bautista win
    bautista loses, badly at that
    governor loses fortune
    governor is pissed
governor looks for ways to get back fortune
    governor sees road budget
governor pockets budget and blames bautista
    two problems solved
he got his money back and he got back at bautista for making him lose money

see what kinda pressure filipino boxers have to put up with...that's absolute BS. I'd like for Bautista to get that mayor in the ring and slap him around.

he should'nt blame boom2x! boom2x fought with heart.. trying to get up eventhough he got bombed with devastating lefts. i guess you could blame his handlers overlooking this match up because maybe they based pdl's performance from pdls bout with gerry not realizing that boom2x was still too raw and unexperienced in a championship bout with an a-class fighter. was it cockiness in boom2x part? really can't tell caase imagine if boom2x wins that would go on to his head much as the hype he already has. instead of a loss that he feels it must be a less..a lesson for him.:nono
