I have noticed that many boxers have nick names. My kids spend alot of time thinking of nick names for them selves, my question for you is who gives them these names and how is it determined?

I wouldnt focus on that right now, just stay focused on your kids training and learning the sport the nick names can wait til the pros anyways the amateurs dont allow you to use a nick name.

I was gonna say, you can't use a nickname in the ams anyway.

Okay I will pass along the information to my little ones. They probably have a dozen nick names each. I guess I was a dreamer at that age too:yep

Sure you can. They won't always use your nickname when the announcer says your name for a fight (though I've seen it done plenty of times), but tons of amateurs have nicknames.

I have seen heaps of ams with nicknames aswell. The announcer sometimes calls it out. Nicknames are usually earnt in the gym. Your coach or gym mates or someone else will usually give you a nick name, but not always. If you wasnt to call yourself something go for it.

Maybe some places; but hell, even LBC 31, which has been in trouble for some rule violations before, doesn't have that going on. It's just not something that's done in the amateurs. But then again, what do we know....we're only actively involved in USA Boxing.
