Berto's been knocking bums out. I don't see his fan base growing. Barrera/morales had no knockdowns but both had fire when they fight but yet got the public to talk about it the next day.
A Manny-Floyd fight does not save boxing. In 2 years, who do you watch? Boxing needs less weight classes...and 1 champion per class. Right now, it's just prize fighting. With the mouthpiece and all!
Boxing only needs mainstream coverage. If Boxing was on CBS, Fox, ABC, ESPN, etc. on a regular basis everything else would fall into place.
As far as an immediate short-term impact: big name fighters fighting more than once or twice a year would help. Yeah, it's been like that for a while now, but look at the state of boxing coverage right now. It would keep those major sports networks talking about those mega-hype fights.
Boxing needs Haye to grow a set, Solis to lose some weight and fighters to fight - instead of thinking they are all cash cows.
Void needs to get rid of his feathers and fight Pac. Haye needs to get rid of his feathers and fight a Klitscko.
