Boxing reference from WW1

    i read that in WW1 the Brits refered to German heavy artillary shells as Jack Johnsons after the American prizefighter. Hmmm the Germans must have used big black shells.

    Apparently they were named Jack Johnsons because they were heavy and they produced big black clouds when they exploded.
