What is the best way to go about beating a wild swinger?

I think if he's coming in swinging wild, the lure him in by backing up, then just stop and take a step in while throwing a stiff jab followed by a right, or just a right.

    Or

When he's coming in, dont back up in a straight line. Pivot to the side with few shots.

    Anymore ideas?

I have a wild swinger fight coming up so I need some advice.

Definitely some lateral movement. Crush his body too and hopefully break his ribs in the process.

Make him miss with his swinging shots and make him pay. Either take a step back or counter straight in. Don't swing with him, use straight punches.

A high, strict guard and straight, correct, hard punches. Impresses the judges, also (Assuming you are an am, not a pro?).

    down the middle.

fire straight shots right through the middle as he swings then get your hands straight back up and use lateral movement then spring a surprise by coming in again with long hard straight shots up the middle.

I was in with an awkward wild swinger who counter punched me we did 2 rounds the first he out boxed me because he was so awkward the second round i kept a tight guard and punished his body as when they swing there completly exposed to every punch so i got him in a corner and through every punch available especially rib ones

Boxer usually beats the slugger. Don't forget the basics and what out for his swings cause some of these guys can bang

Guys like Mayorga made it to the elite with slugging though, it just depends how effective they are with their style.

if your boxing someone who gets wild thats because they lost control. stay composed, time them with your jab, throw in a few combos from far away if you can and rack up points. also if they get you on the ropes just catch them with something while they are coming in and clinch.

i sparred taht awkward boy again i mentioned before

this time i boxed alot better but still got picked off but it was more due to lack of concentration than anything next time i will get the better of the boxing.

I found the best way is to out work them as they will throw the shots looping round and you can get to mid range and punish them with shots down the middle which will tire both of yous out but if you invest in the body youll be the one standing

GPater. I would say that that approach is really well but i prefer to fight on the outside and let them punch themselves out. What i like to do is wait until they are all punched out and then attack because it makes it really difficult for them to respond.

yeh would work aswell i just find punching the wind out of them tires them out alot quicker. I'm not boasting but i have pretty good accurate body shots and when i get going its pretty relentless body attack. So i use it with my fitness just to punch and punch and punch until they dont punch back a bit tiring but what you gonna do
