Boxing has its dull moments, like most sports. But on a rare occasion, there will be a fight with so much electricity, it feels like a Roman gladiator match. There is a special atmosphere in the stadium. It feels like the fans crave blood, and theres a shared sense of possibility that someone might get killed.

Tyson Spinks is a great example of this.

My recent favorite is Klitschko Pulev:

That's not a normal sporting event, it's an execution!

Can you guys think of other examples?

Well, I can think of lots of examples of boxers being beaten to death or permanently damaged in front of a frenzied crowd baying for blood.

A classic boxing gladiator event from the past was Chango Carmona's execution of Mando Ramos.

    Definitely Benn-McClellan.
That's was brutal. Sheer electricity, frenzied brutality. I remember watching it on TV as it happened and screaming at the top of my lungs probably.
