Freddie Dawson , was a much avoided fighter of the 1940s...To hold my favorite lightweight , on even terms, speaks for itself...Dawson had about 120 fights un that talent rich era... Yes his style is somewhat like Henry Armstrong, minus Henry.s ferocity... Thanks for bringing back memories of the 1940s... P.S,. my lightweight favorite was of course Ike Williams, uncuffed....
Meast , interesting piece on the tragic jimmy Doyle, who I would occasionally see at Stillmans gym training...He would always appear so pale to me at the gym...I remember that night when he died,June25,1947,when the news flashed on my radio...Sad ending for a courageous boxer like Doyle...After the bigger Artie Levine [a powerful puncher I saw],kod Jimmy Doyle in 1946 severely, Doyle had 5 winning bouts after being kod,that led to his final bout with Robinson...Today with modern technology ,a brain injury after the Levine Ko in 1946, might have been detected, thus saving jimmy Doyle's life....One never knows...b.b.

No I never saw Dawson in a main event bout at MSG, but maybe in the prelims...He did not fight too many times in NY.b.b.
Just seen the stuff on Youtube? I like how you put it Henry Armstrong without the ferocity. He fought like him, had the same skillset just wasnt a ferocious animal like Armstrong, slightly more relaxed and a counterpuncher.
