When did the underground mafia actually stop running the boxing world? I say bring back the mafia at least they made sure the best fought the best.

They also stopped people from getting title shots when they deserved them, forcing them to 'lose matches' etc.

Are you saying fights aren't fixed these days? Corruption has gone from the streets to the offices. Its much more widespread on a professional level!!

It wouldn't be better instead of corrupt judges (there is at least the chance that the fighter who is supposed to lose wins extremely big or wins by ko) fighters themselves would be forced to lose. No it wouldn't be any better

you still have them right now, big boxing promoters like arum. Modern day godfather of boxing. While dela hoya and schaeffer are like mayer and luciano.

although I'm not saying they fix fights, they control who matchmaking.

regarding the mafia back then, they have alot of power. Like I just learned from watching BE, that rothstein get to fix a large event such as the world series and fights of in boxing back then are most of the time fixed more likely World title fights held in NYC

Boxing is controlled via creative and selective match making, every once in a while it backfires.

But most major promoters know who is who, and when and where the cash is gonna come in.
