With the likes of AJ, both the Furys, Whyte & Chisora all looking past the domestic scene and the uncertainty surrounding the future of David Price, the main 4 that are now throwing there name into the hat for the British strap are Cornish, Sexton, Allen and Lewison... all 4 of which will surely mix it with each other over the next year, but have question marks over there heads.

Gary Cornish - 25 fights, but hasn't beaten anyone of note. You can cut him some slack in the sense that he had a limited amateur career so has had to learn his craft as a pro, but I've never personally been overly impressed. Essentially thrown to the wolves against AJ.

Sam Sexton - Still only 32, but hasn't really done anything at all in the last 5 years since being stopped by Price. In fact he hasn't really done anything since the loss to Chisora 7 years ago. I do think he's a decent fighter on the domestic scene, but he's not fought anyone credible in years - Is he still the same? Has he improved?

Ian Lewison - The talent is there and from what it seems, he's been taking training more seriously since the loss to Whyte. A fight which he took on late notice and was out of shape, yet showed glimpses of what he is capable of early doors along with a solid chin, but just didn't have it in the tank. At 35, is it too late to be taking the game seriously or can he still make some noise?

Dave Allen - Fighting for the Commonwealth next...balls of steel and a head made of granite. Not the most technically gifted, but he's strong, rugged and durable. Another one who seems to be taking the sport more seriously recently, but in this case he has youth on his side.

By the time the years out, who do you see as British Champion?

Cornish hates it on the whiskers, White Rhino for me. Shouldn't forget Gorman and Nick Webb tho, both ordered to fight for English belt, winner in a great position for british shot

Lewison is the best out of the bunch by a long way, he just doesn't train hard enough, nor does he eat right. It's a shame because for three rounds he was giving Whyte a good scrap before gassing like a fat potato.

Impressed with what I've seen from Gorman, fast hands for a big man.

Definitely one to watch coming through, but unsure he'll be fighting for the British by the time the years out. Still very young, no need to rush him either.

Would do it no problem but I fear Warden is going to slow track him fighting Matt Skelton types for a while.

Lewison is easily the best out of those lot. He was ahead vs Whyte after 4 rounds, he just gasses. The guy has amazing power though.

I've looked into that win over Solis before, but there's very little info on it.... the only time I can see it's been mentioned is by Steve Goodwin. No record of it, it seems. Lewison claims he had 67 fights with 5 losses which isn't too shabby!

Came across the below Am record for Solis, no mention of Lewison.

    http://www.reocities.com/pedrinet/solis.html

I know David Price got the nod over him in the 2005 or 2006 ABA's.

Looking on the below, it has Helenius beating him back in 02, although doesn't take away that Lewison could hold a win over him also.

    L David Dolan 14:20 (2000 ABA Finals)
    W Mikael Puurula 12:6 (2002 Gee-Bee Tournament Semi-Final)
    L Robert Helenius 9:24 (2002 Gee-Bee Tournament Final)
    L Modo Sallah 18:20 (2003 Arena Cup Pula Semi-Final)

Cornish/Lewison is a good enough fight for the British Title, the belt needs to be active again.

If it is out of those 4

    I say

    Cornish
    Lewison
    Sexton

    Allen

You could throw a blanket over the 1st 3, but I can't see Allen beating them at all
All Allen is good for is getting punched in the face, even @ British level that won't end well for him
