With Fielding & Cal Smith ordered to fight by the board (delayed) does anyone think the fight will materialise? I don't. They're both going seperate routes to world titles. And Buglioni tipped to be fighting for the WBA, that leaves realistically Blackledge & maybe Markham as the only viable fighters who can pick it up? Thoughts...

A lot of good fights could be made but no one wants to take risks and maybe get a loss or a loss to a rival. Shame that present day fans and the press have helped cause this trend by criticizing fighters for a loss and proclaiming after a loss fighters A is a bum etc. why would a promoter risk having to rebuild a fighters career all over again after a loss when you can match him vs weaker foes
Yeh smyle beat markham for the English title... He's another that could be thrown into the mix.. Same with David Brophy. It's shocking that the belt hasn't been contested in so long, with Paul Smith sitting on it for so long .

The fight was due to headline at the echo, when he was with FW, as I say everything had been done, tickets sold etc & all press done.. Then he left FW to join matchroom. Blackledge stepped in late to then fight fielding for the commonwealth, Gotta say it was poorly managed by smith, no need to make the fight if he had no intention of carrying it through..
