I'm not a fan of Calzaghe but I do respect what he achieved. It's more his fan boys to be fair. And anyway. The isn't like supporting your national team for me. I will follow British fighters and hope they do well but if i'm a big fan of a fighter they are facing, being British wont sway my support either. I must have been the only person I know from back home who was rooting for Floyd vs Ricky. Part of that was because of the stupidity of some of my mates (believe it or not I was the only person who believed Floyd won win and made about £200 in £10 bets) and part was because I prefer him as a fighter to Ricky. Like I said though, on the whole I'd like British fighters to do well. Doesn't mean I have to come on here and pretend they are a class apart from their rivals when generally they aint

It is anyone right to say what they feel about a fighter. If someone hates a fighter for there own reasons then so be it...:yep

Opinions are like arseholes... Everyone has got one...:good

Thats exactly my attitude. I always hope domestic fighters do well but if I'm a fan of the opposition then its not the end of the world if the Brit loses. Curry-Jones springs to mind......

Don't you think some of the reasons are a bit weird though? People "hate" boxers they've never met and can't judge any issue in their career/ record rationally.

To be fair 'Knuckle' I dont think he will now and if he does, Ward will beat him. Not saying that Ward will win the tourny but I think out of them all Ward will be the one who'd beat Joe. Joe could beat Abraham as he wouldn't gas and be there to take those big shots all night. He's already beaten Kessler when KEssler was in his prime, he could well beat Froch although I dont think it'd be as wide as people think and Dirrel is a poor version of Joe. Taylor isn't worth mentioning now really either although he'd take Joe the distance. I've been praising Ward for some time though now and beating Kessler was a little bit of a justification for me. I think he'd give Joe nightmares and Joe sitting out for so long wouldn't help matters either

I know you ain't digging Knuckle it's cool. I think that GazOC summed it up great with his view. I went to JC v Hopkins and wanted JC to win but saw the legend that is B-Hop too... I could not lose...:good

Khan v Barrera springs to mind to... To see MAB was amazin, listening to his reception as he entered the ring was awesome... I could not lose that night either but was gutted when he lost though... He is my all time favourite fighter...:yep

One of the things that first struck me when I first started posting on here was how we all see things differently and that is what makes ESB great... Plus you can have a good craic to with some great posters...:happy

I pretty much ALWAYS support the British fighter. I can't think of a time where I didn't. I suppose Pavlik/Lockett but that wasn't really a contest anyway.

Just my take on it and the way I was brought up. I can understand why people have a distaste for that attitude but tough ****, basically.

Agreed that some of the 'hate' is just borderline obsessive / weird. Mainly (but not always) driven by nationality / locality / race IMO.

Read the board long enough and you'll work out who the morons are, and you can ignore them as appropriate.

Knuckle you will also find that this site has a few brainwashed Manure United fans...:nut I hope that you don't fall into this category...:think

I wanted MAB to win that night too...it should have been a NC and stopped, I think the ref made a poor choice to let it go on...:barf
