On July 10, 1940, during World War II, the 114-day Battle of Britain began as Nazi forces began attacking southern England by air. By late October, Britain managed to repel the Luftwaffe, which suffered heavy losses.

I think JG is just trying to give the british a bit of credit and maybe thought that some guys on this forum might be aware of the significance of the date. Maybe if some of the posters on here were from the same time as JG they might appreciate what the guy is saying. Cut him a bit of slack-hes a cool guy

I didnt diss the man or comment on the significance of the date. Just pointed out that this is a British Boxing Forum and there is a Lounge for the other non-boxing categories.

I won't claim to be a history buff, but suffice to say, I did history at school and have visited numerous war memorials all over the UK and oddly enough a seemingly abandoned graveyard of British servicemen (dating pre WW1 - from memory) in Ireland that is largely unknown.

I know mate, i wasnt intimating that you were. Maybe i shouldnt have replied to your quote and just posted instead. I was just trying to point out that JG is from that era and ****, which im sure you knew already. It wasnt intended to be condesending or patronising like the cynic above posted
