This couldn't be some inside ploy to make Amir Khan more keen on taking the fight due to apparent discontent in Brook's camp?

 

They could play silly beggars as much as they like, a fight between brook and khan will never happen and it’s lost mostly all of its appeal now anyway

 

The late 90s were pretty weak for the super heavies. The likes of Kandelaki and Samil Sam were winning World Championships, and there was limited depth in the division. Other than Peter, none of the class of 2000 made much impact in the pro ranks, which is unusual for an Olympics tourney.

Harrison wasn't that successful an amateur anyway (46-8), and prior to Sydney came up short at the top level. He wasn't expected to win gold, but things fell into place after he beat Lezin and he took the opportunity with both hands.

His style and attributes were always more suited to the unpaid ranks; he never really had the punch or chin to progress beyond domestic level, even if he is sometimes labelled an underachiever.

 

Suggests skill wasn't the problem but heart and determination was.

I would g say all of its clout as if still watch (as long as it’s the right weight and the stupid clauses are put aside) but your right it’s definitely not the fight it would have been, has a strange feeling of Bellew-Cleverley 2 about it ? Like yeah I’ll watch it but I’d be more interested watching either guy fight a genuine world champion.

 

yeah I see where you’re coming from mate, I too would still watch but it’d not have the same feel to it at all, just be like watching for watchings sake
