Disagree. Spence got a bit of a gift v Porter wereas Brook brst him in his own backyard with a bit to spare.
Have to disagree , some people say the early body work slowed Kell down and then spence took over , I actually changed my opinion a bit from when I first watched it I thought it was the body work and spence warming into the fight was the reason more then Brook tireing due to the weight, but rewatching it Brook didn’t have the same energy as in the first half and I defiantly think thst was due to killing himself to make 147.
This content is protected Kell was up at this point This content is protected told him to his face too
Spence deserved the win via the knockdown. Weight issues definitely weren't easy for Kell, but in the end Spence's determination, work rate and bodywork beat Brook. And this would have happened to Brook if he didn't face GGG IMO.
I was at this fight right in the corner took me about 2 hours to get to the front of the bar for a beer. Will never go to a stadium fight again. And yea it was close through the first half of the fight which I ended up watching on the big screen in the stadium anyway lol. Definitely wouldn’t recommend stadium fights unless your ringside. Never rated Spence that highly either.
First 5 rounds Kell looked superb. Encouraging the jab and countering it over the top for fun. Timing was different class as usual. People talk about the body work but after jumping two divisions and killing himself was 1000% the reason. His performance against a relentless porter in his prime is enough evidence for me that it weren’t spences work that slowed him
I m still not 100 percent convinced kell beat porter. Close fight that imo. No shame tho cause porters a very good fighter. Think brook just caught spence at the wrong time...when he,d got to the stage of being the wrong side of the weight. Would have been a great fight prime for prime but dont tjink spence has showed me enough to convince me he,d have the firepower to stop a prime brook. And brook was more skilled so close to call. We,ll never really know how good brook could have been. Good career....thats been massively mismanaged in terms of progression. That plus did brook really push himself to his full potential...not so sure. Either way good fighter...that could have possibly been great but was held to back too long from even before porter.
Interesting, I thought Brook schooled Porter myself. He got handled poorly after that win though unfortunately when he should have kicked on.
Cracking commentary from Frock during the fight including 'Kell Brook is a warrior and will never quit' - less than 1 minute later he ............... goes down on one knee and quits.
Brook's promoter chucked him in with a huge punching middleweight the fight before. Poor promoting ruined Brook's career.
He leaves the sport with a battered legacy having taken the Toe Haye PPV route. Legacy and career sold for money - Brook was more than willing to go down this path and take the huge pile of PPV loot on offer.
The illness in camp twice, cutting his sparring and training and struggling to cut weight RIGHT up to the weign in day did not help Kell, in that camp He was up on the card upto the eye socket got broke and boxing well. I do think without the eye socket broke it be a different story. I mean i didn't see anything special with spence, that i see with crawford.
