    Hi
I have boxed in half a year i think and my trainers say that I have talent. But whenever i sparre i keep going easy on the guys. I just aren't brutal enough. I can hit hard and i can get some good hits in on them. But i cant make myself do it.
So do you guys have any idears for some mental traning?

Eat more meat, raw egg yolks, also increase your adrenaline and cortisol before sparring by breathholding then hyperventilating, cortisol can break down muscle but it increases aggression.

sparring isn't about brutality, your trainers should know that. good on you for starting boxing though mate, so many on here speak as if they are experts but would never climb between the ropes. at the end of the day boxing is a sport, its not about trying to kill the opponent. but when i box, its about being in the frame of mind that both of you have trained to knock someone out. so they are trying just as hard as you are to finish it (in a bout, not sparring). If you go easy and don't finish a fight, one punch later it might be you on your back!

    Wecome to ESB btw:good

You may not have noticed that there's a training forum on the site (top right corner right above your name ^). Probably you'll have more success if you post in there for queries like this.

Good luck with the boxing also - maybe we'll be talking 'bout you in a few years:good

Don't focus on being brutal. Sparring isn't about knocking guys out or anything like that. Its working on your craft etc. As one poster said get in with a few guys a little bigger if you are knocking smaller ones around.

Your trainers will help you with this though. You are new and being new comes with it. First time I went into the gym as a kid I thought it was about knocking heads off but learned quick. Good luck!

Give up boxing and be thankful for it. You you wont go far with that attitude, boxing is a tough sport, and you have to be brutal. You shouldn't see that as a weakness however, not wanting to hit someone who hasn't wronged you is a good thing, don't change that. But dont box competitively.

Thanks for the reply. But i'm not trying to be heavyweight champion. I am not build to be a brutal boxer and i know that. I have a reach and height advantage however. So I think that i will be able to go a long way in the amature boxing world ;)
But thanks so much for the reply everyone it's great with some boxing advice :D!

Give him a break. He is just new and thinking that he isn't suppose to hurt guys in the gym. That's all and being new he hasn't grasped that these guys will be just fine and if he is busting them up they will just bring in guys with more experience bc I am sure he is in there with guys who are also new.

I do agree with you but he will get over it.

i dont like people that try and discourage others from boxing. Some kind of fvcked up personality if you ask me. Keep boxing. Youll learn more if youre relaxed.

First poke its eyes out with your thumbs. Choke it to death. Then eat it raw. If that doesn't work try a small dog. Or just eat a few cans of cat or dog food.

  15. You need a reason to be boxing brutal. Whether it be ego to be the best, or the prizemoney that comes with beating guys up before they beat you up. It doesn't sound like you are that guy.
