Buckland v Smith

Selby's time will come and his fight IMO is a more progressive fight in quality and in terms of progression. Don't think it's a bad thing at all for him to go under the radar and maybe Eddie feels Lee's fists will do the talking.

Great for G-Buck to be on U.S tv but in grand scheme of things it doesn't mean a great deal compared to Selby IMO. Lot of fighters have fought on US tv and never gone back on there.

Is there any guarantee Buckland-Smith will feature on HBO btw?. I've seen HBO a few times just show the main event and finish.

Buckland should win this IMHO. Good fight though..

 

It could be that a chance to be on HBO and fighting for the British was too good to turn down. His inactivity has hampered him already, there's no reason to think that he won't be just as inactive moving forward.

 

Alas, no he won't. The show on August 17th is a doubleheader: Barker vs. Geale and Cleverly vs. Kovalev, but they aren't even showing Cleverly vs. Kovalev live.

The broadcast starts at 9:45pm EST which is 2:45am UK time - long after the Cardiff action is over.

It will be a tape delayed showing of Cleverly vs. Kovalev followed by Geale vs. Barker live from Atlantic City. That's it. Neither Buckland vs. Smith nor McKenzie vs. Maccarinelli will be aired from the Wales card, nor will Romero vs. Martinez from the New Jersey card.

I would imagine Kiko vs. Momo would take place about 9:30pm EST/2:30am GMT or so, around when HBO begins to air Cleverly vs. Kovalev (since it will be the co-feature in New Jersey and therefore last bout on before Geale and Barker walk out...which depending on how things go - ie should Cleverly vs. Kovalev have gone the distance earlier in the day - may not be until 3:30ish!)

I can see the Campbell card doing very good numbers at the weekend and having selby showcasing his talent on it is no bad thing.

I really like Smith but Buckland is all wrong for him.. He will be too big and too strong for Smith.. Only Super Feathers in uk that will beat Buckland are the ones just as big as him Smith is more a featherweight.. Think Buckland will walk through everything he's got and stop Smith in the 4th or 5th. Last fight then he vacates the title I believe!!

If he does, I'll have to eat a lot of crow regarding having written the elder brothers off and declaring Liam the family's only remaining hope a while back.

A coup of Buckland here. along with Paul's very nice performance in the Dodson rematch would have me eating those words.
