Whose watching this fight? The kid from Ghana looks pretty useful with a very good jab. Saw him use that very effectively against Appleby (Had to laugh at the judge who gave it to Appleby) that was as one sided as fights go. But I saw some good stuff from Laryea, just lacks power though, but if he gets that jab working and makes Ricky miss you never know. I think it will be a close fight, and a close fight will favour Burns with the judges if it goes 12 rounds. Hopefully we won't get a repeat of the shameful judging that took place in the Appleby fight. How do you guys see this one going?
That may be so but he beat the guy who was supposed to be challenging burns, and beat him comprehensively. He's showed good head movement and a good jab, you can win fights simply using those 2 tools effectively. Burns isnt a massive puncher either he would need to throw volume and land enough to discourage this guy. He's one paced but he's tough and not too bad technically. Styles make fights. With all this considered, yes, it could well be a close a fight.
Appleby hurt him to the body in the second round and I can see Burns targetting that area and there is plenty of it to aim for. Burns Ko6 for me.
Laryea is a poor challenger but Burns isn't that good a champion either. I can't see Burns not winning but I thinks scores of 117-111, 116-112 are quite likely. Unless that Hungarian judge is scoring against Laryea again of course...
I think Ricky will stop him. If Appleby had been half interested he'd have stopped Laryea too. Burns laboured a bit with the last guy but at least he was game and tough. This joker is ****, but managed to defeat an even shitter (on the night) Appleby.
I have no idea how Frank pulled this one off. I don't begrudge Ricky a fight or two like this at all. I'm delighted he's got a chance to make some money as champion before being flung back in with the best guys. I think he earned that. I just can't believe that any governing body would sanction this as a title fight. Just wow... ( I expect way too much of sanctioning bodies given their history)
It's not as easy a match as people think the African looks strong, can punch and has nothing to lose! There have been more unlikely champions! I think burns will stop him but if this were a commonwealth title fight we'd be rightly calling him a dangerman- just because ur a world champion doesn't give you magic powers - Ricky will have to work for this win
Layrea has a decent jab and loops his shots. Ricky at times gets dragged down to level he fights. He needs to attack the body with real intent. He could take this guy out real early if he did but i see this becoming a one sided get to the finish line type job. Layrea's balance is poor and he leaves chin in air and wings hooks in the pocket. Burns for me beats him in every single area of this match up.
