Would love to know if Billy nelson thought ricky would win this fight beforehand? I was there supporting ricky that night. I was hoping his will would win him the fight. Was that the instruction? Excuse the spelling billy
He probably knew it was a tough fight. Everyone is beatable though. Crawford was probably better than they thought he would be. Class act Crawford. No shame in losing to him and he saw the final bell.
If I remember correctly, he was pretty vocal on this forum, about how Burns' would reign victorious; telling everyone to fill their boots on the large odds on a Burns' victory, to get their summer holidays paid for. Most neutral boxing observers had Crawford down as a hot favourite, especially after how Burns' went life and death with Beltran beforehand. Burns' was a good champion, with an honest resume, but Bud Bud was and is several levels above him, and could conceivably become a 3 weight world champion. No shame in Burns losing his belt to him.
Billy, as nice as he comes across, was massively deluded about Ricky. Crawford, Gamboa, JMM, Broner - They would have all battered him. It's great to back your guy, but honesty is the best policy. Ricky was a tough guy, but he struggled with the Beltrans of this world. He never had a chance against Crawford. The best Burns wouldn't win more than two rounds against Bud.
Before the fight Ricky was looking great in sparring Luke Csmbrll and Lee Selby, I thought it was going to be a close hard fight and one I was hoping the Scottisb crowd would help get Ricky over the winning line and odds wise Ricky was massive. However on the night Terrance proved how good he was and in fairness to Ricky never hurt Ricky once but the mans judgement of distance and movement were really a joy to watch,anybody who knows me will tell you I appreciate good boxing even if it's from my fighters opponent As written losing on point doesn't look too bad now👍
