many critics say the same thing about Ricky, that's why both fighters get under-rated so much, and he didn't struggle to beat Prescott, he won handily, one judge was just watching the wrong fight

Consensus no1 in what was a very weak division. He isn't and wasn't convincingly the best in the division.

Fighters that lack a single, remarkable attribute (power, speed, etc) are often overlooked for flashier guys. Broner is a good example of how fast hands and a decent punch make people take notice.

he's better than Demarco and had a longer reign than Burns, has a better record than Broner so that makes him number one IMO

Has he beaten anyone in the top 5 of the division?.... I don't think he has.

But I'd be happily educated if he has.

same could be said about Demarco or Burns, Demarco lucked out big time against Linares, where-as Vazquez won convincingly against Gesta, Broner has the one very good win against Demarco but that's not enough to suddenly just shoot him above Vazquez, and whoever wins out of Burns and Vaquez will quite easily be number one based on resume

then whats the point in this entire conversation

So it doesn't matter if your concensus #1 if it's a poor division?
I said people on here regarded him as #1.Now you're moving the goalposts.
How many divisions regularly have all the belt holders and top names going up against each other?

You can state your opinion why you think someone is better, but unless you can back it up and explain why he's better it's not automatically correct.

I think Burns is better than Vasquez because he has beaten higher calibre fighters i.e Martinez, Kastidis & Mitchell. Burns has better stamina and workrate, a better jab and he's rangey. Vasquez lacks pop and seemed to struggle with the rangey jab of Prescott.

    P.S
    DeMarco
    Escobedo
    Litzau
    De Leon

I'd argue these wins are as good or better than Vasquez's.... Quality not quantity

Of course it's an achievement to be the best in your division (which he arguably was or wasn't) But everything should be considered in context and you have to admit there was no stand out talent before Broner and burns moved up.:good

He threw more punches but broners punches where more effective..... close fight draw would of been fair....
