Will the ring belt likely be up for grabs?

Broner is rated number 1 by ring. Also DeMarco is rated ahead of Burns who is rated 4.

Excellent news. Where is Craney to eat his crow? Must be feeling a tad silly right now.

    Good fight!

If it had been De Marco, I'm sorry that would have been laughable in more ways than one, and then Ricky would get the "fighting Broner leftovers" tag. That would have been a stupid fight to make:

    1) Because of the "leftovers" tag.
    2) After the goalpost changes from the fanboy club. Because before the De Marco-Broner fight, "DeMarco was no pushover he is a great fighter" - "He will beat Broner" etc etc, AFTER the fight it was - "DeMarco is crap" - "Broner is still sh*t"

So I'm glad that fight wasnt made.

I'm glad its Vazquez and I'm pleased for Ricky and Billy! Because now they genuinely have a world level fight at Lightweight. No excuses. This will be a big win for Ricky if he pulls it of. Leading to a mega unification fight with Broner, winner takes all. Vazquez is the next best thing to Broner at the moment IMO. And considering Broner was booked elsewhere, I think this is a good credible fight for Ricky.

He out-landed Broner, out-boxed him, controlled the fight. I'd also dispute how effective Broner was.

It wasn't even that close tbh Broner just got out-boxed. I can't really see a case for Broner winning more rounds at all or even the same as Ponce

Broner will be a little bugged when Ricky becomes WBO\IBF 135 Champion..

Delighted for Ricky, this is what he wanted and deserves. Looking forward to it. Awkward fight but very winnable. Vasquez is unorthodox but I think Ricky pulls it off.

    I want Burns-Broner!

escobedo, litzau and de leon at super featherweight make broner rank higher at lightweight...how exactly? ponce de leon is a bloody featherweight, who I had winning the fight, litzau is gash, escobedo was a joke fight thanks to broners lack of professionalism.

anyway, even if we say these wins are great, they mean NOTHING at lightweight, Vazquez has the better lightweight resume than Broner, quite clearly, since he has more than one fight at the weight for one

Bingo! Broner's 2nd biggest win is a featherweight who he fought at super feather, good fighter, over rated resume.

maybe I was a little harsh there, it isn't a bad resume for someone with 25 fights, taking out litzau in the first was good, but I refuse to give him any credit for the escobedo win after his carry on before the fight then coming in overweight

I still don't think you can make an argument for having Broner ahead of Vazquez at lightweight, beating Demarco isn't quite quality enough to beat Vaquezs current quantity, especially since Vazquez was rated by almost everyone as being better than Demarco and the number one, and if Vazquez beats Burns or vice versa, there is no argument to say Broner is still number one after that
