Ronald “Butch” Lewis is a boxing promoter behind the success of many boxing legends, including Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, and the owner of Butch Lewis Productions.
Lewis has been a boxing promoter since the 1970s. He negotiated the largest guaranteed payday in boxing history for Michael Spinks in 1988 for the “Superfight”, Spinks vs. Mike Tyson. In 1991, Lewis added an entertainment arm to his company Butch Lewis Productions and produced the blockbuster Pay-Per-View event “James Brown: Living in America” and co-produced feature films in conjunction with the west coast production company of UIE co-owned by Lewis, BET and Tim Reid. They produced several feature films, including “Out of Sync” and “Once Upon a Time When We Were Colored.”
In February 2005 Butch Lewis Productions extended its entertainment arm into the music business and signed with the Def Jam Music Group to create Lewis’ own independent record label “Voicez.” Lewis is chairman of the label and is also a consultant in the entertainment world.
