bute recently struggled against a plodding grachev. like lacy before him, bute built up his "0" against stiffs and mediocre opposition. the moment he fought against top competition, he failed miserably. once again, like lacy before him, bute's career is going on a downward spiral...:verysad

I said right after the Froch defeat that Bute might have lost something that will never come back and was surprisingly, met with derision by some.
That was one of those defeats that changes a fighter forever and Bute should stay well away from Froch.

The comparison is valid. Except for the fact that Lacy was all hype and was never the undisputed champion of the division before his great fall, before his first test against elite competition.

Andrade and Magee were better than anything that Lacy beat IMO before he was exposed, so Bute reached a higher level before his fall and was a champion still.

I do not think he will recover and will nose dive just like Lacy before retirement

Only real difference is Lacy stepped up and got his ass handed to him earlier.

Little pre-mature for a comparison to ATG Lacy, however, the early signs don't look good for Bute. Grachev only had 12 fights, correct?

    I see no comparison.

Lacy never beat anyone remotely good.

Bute has in fact beaten good people and looked good doing it. Bute may not be ATG but he is a worthy champion and light years better than Lacy ever was.

Pre Calzaghe version of Lacy would have had a chance no sorry a good chance of defeating Butes entire pre Froch C.V.

Not that version of Reid. Retired and then taking a last fight just for the money. Pemberton did that same.

Lacy's people hyped it while Pemberton said he came backjust for 1 fight to help buy his mom a house... he was frank about the fight.

Some people did not understand what Lacy was before the Calxzaghe fight.

They then had to brew a story up that allowed them not to have been completely wrong about him... so we got the Calzaghe ruined Lacy.

In reality.. Lacy was never any good what so ever.

He was in life or death battles with Wiggins and many many other people noone has ever heard about. He beat an ancient and retired Reid with the help of the ref, and old and never very good Pemberton.. and the rest of his CV really were nobodies..

Bute beat Bika fair and square. He beat Magee. He beat Andrade (at least 2. time was legit) and so on... Lacy never was close to beating guys like that.
