There was a rumor that Bute was to fight Andrade in May after his first title defense against Joppy. But Andrade was able to get himself into position for an IBF title eliminator instead so this leaves Bute without a "big" american name for his second title defense in May.

Now I see that Lacy is schedule to fight on the Mosley-Judah undercard. Lacy is promoted by GBP just like Andrade. You think Bute-Lacy could be made in May? I think it would be a good name for Bute to put on his resume and it would set-up his mandatory title defense against Andrade pretty nicely if he wins against Stieglitz. Plus it would make a pretty decent undercard for the Mosley-Judah PPV. :D

decent fight for Bute but not the kind of fight that will rank him with the best of the best.

To get the fights that will rank in with the best of the best he first need to beat named opponents like Lacy. The chances of getting a fight with Taylor without first putting some US names on his record are slim to none.

I think with Bika, Lacy and Andrade on his record plus Joppy and Berrio. It would make for a decent selling pitch to make a fight with Kessler/Taylor/Pavlik.

I totally agree with that Maxime ! I guess GBP have really given up on Lacy if they put him in with Bute in May. That fight would really end Lacy's run as a serious contender at 168 ! Plus the fight is not a money maker anyways....

I think having the ibf belt is a selling pitch on its own....the big fights will come soon enough, either way, I don't think Lacy wants any part of Bute right now, that would be career suicide in his case.

Anyway, from what I heard tonight Bute-Andrade is in the plans for this summer on HBO Boxing After Dark. So I guess that kills Bute-Lacy in the water.

He had two unimpressive performances against Tsypko and Manfredo.

Weird, he was shown on USTV over and over again for so long, then after the loss, not seen again. Anyone showing his fight?

Lacy is finished, honestly. He would be an American NAME on Bute's resume but not the kind of fight we want from Bute, especially after Joppy. I would just about swallow this fight if Bute was guaranteed to fight Taylor on the back of it, if he won, and Andrade v. Stieglitz, later this year. Anyway, Lacy is not interested in this fight.

I personally think Bute needs to fight Andrade v. Stieglitz winner after Joppy. I know it's the mandatory and it's a missed opportunity to gain more experience/more exposure through voluntary defences, but if there aren't other decent such fights out there to be made, might as well fight someone good. So...Andrade v. Stieglitz winner or, ideally, Taylor, for me. Some good fights can be made for Bute on the back of a victory over Andrade, I think. Time for Bute to step up again.

Both of his fights with Tsypko and Manfredo were on HBO. I don't know what you're talking about. :nut
