Oh, and have you been aware that less than one month prior to the fight, the doctor adviced Bute's team to cancelled the fight (probably because of his weak chin :tired).

Bute decided he wanted to go on...

Considering Calzaghe's complete lack of signature wins I'm surprised that this poll is so one sided. Bute would be the best fighter Calzaghe had faced and vice versa. It's harder to determine the outcome of big fight like this when neither fighter has stepped up in their career.

Im surprised Calzaghe has more TKO votes than Bute has total votes. What a complete joke. If ESB wants to use a measuring stick take a look at the Bika fights. Now who in their right mind will say Calzaghe looked more impressive against Bika than Bute did?

So using this logic then we can say Ward and Dirrell would also struggle as bad vs Bute as Calzaghe would?

Sugar Joe stops him early. Just not on the same level as a top ten ATG, like Sugar Joe.

I'm sorry if people disagree with my opinion but I've never seen Calzaghe look good. He has always looked amateurish and easy to hit. He never faced a big puncher in his entire career. His signature wins against age appropriate opponents were against Lacy, who was little more than a stepping stone, and Kessler. In the Kessler fight he looked ok and certainly won the fight but we are talking about one fight in an entire career. I had the fight even after watching Slappy vs Hopkins and I think he looked horrible in that fight. He displayed good speed and physical strength and I think the fight against Bute would be very dramatic but I lean towards Bute's better power and more accurate punching leading him to victory.

To be fair, Bute have beat this guy easier than Joe. And Joe was down in this fight vs a very ordinary puncher.

If Bute beats a top-5 SMW like Kessler, Dirrell or Froch i`d give him a chance to beat Calzaghe too. But seen in the light what Bute have done so far, Calzaghe (no matter what version) is head and shoulders above Bute!

Bute might have the tools and the talent to beat Calzaghe, but the same thing was said about Kessler before he faced Calzaghe.

Hopkins might make Bute look like a weakling if they fought even now. And this is 3 years after Calzaghe retired.

Calzaghe is very fast. He would be the fastest guy that Bute has ever fought. Smartest guy Bute has ever fought. Toughest guy that Bute has ever fought. Actually, Calzaghe would be the best fighter Bute has ever fought if they actually met with each other.

I am not sure where you get that Bute can even win against Calzaghe. I'm a Bute fan, but Hopkins would tenderize that guy.

Calzaghe fights. He gets drawn into his opponents' gameplans because he likes one-upping them. It's a machismo thing for him throughout his career. Calzaghe could've just stayed outside and jabbed Bika inside and out like he did Kessler, but even in the Kessler fight, he still went toe to toe with Kessler inside. Bute looks more impressive because he sticks to the gameplan. Calzaghe ruins people's gameplans but on the off-chance, looks ugly at times when doing it.

It doesn't change the fact that Calzaghe is all sorts of wrong for Bute. At least Calzaghe has fought fighters with equal if not better handspeed than Bute's. Bute has never really fought a fast fighter at all. And Calzaghe is all sorts of fast.

I usually agree with you. but I can't see Bute beating Ward...Calzaghe in his best day may be the only one who could beat Ward:bart
