When Pavlik was out of shape a fight agains Froch,Kessler or even Ward would have been fine. Maybe he would have lost against those guys but at least they could not do the damage to him that Bute can do to anybody. By the way I think Bute can beat Ward handily he is every bit as skilled as Ward but is faster with 10x the power.
Their speed is similar imo ( Bute and Ward ) . Ward is better on inside boxing than Bute. Also is a good "outboxer" and more versatile. If Bute will succeed to maintain&control the fight by distance and counter him then he has good chances to win. Also if Ward gets inside than it will be a long-messy night for Bute imo.
On the inside Bute's body punch which is one of the best punches to the body I have ever laid eyes on could win him the fight.

This is good from bute, but also clever. He knows that all the top names at SMW have fought big fights abroad so bute had to not just stay at home. With that in mind, Froch is a clever choice, because bute has been preparing for Froch his entire career. This is the style where bute does especially well. Great fight and both will probably win from it. Well, at least bute has little to lose. if he wins - great! if he losses then the other big names will still want to meet him because he is now with the Froch fight in the mix and shows he will travel, will make big fights and will get much wider known through the Froch fight. So he will quickly get another titlefight win or lose. Froch has a bit more at stake... but his saving upside is that he is probably the most entertaining SMW. So he will also be fine.
