What weight of gloves should I get for all around boxing training ? I'm going to do bag work and probably sparring.. I'm looking to buy on the internet but for every glove there is you can choose from 12-14-16 ounces and I'm just not sure what is quite right for what I need. I see people doing bag work with shitty black super extra light gloves but I'd rather have hit the bag with sparring gloves and build endurance. Thanks!
I use 16 ounce but being 140 pounds myself it's rather heavy. It's also heavier than what all of my sparring partners use, so next time I'm getting me some 14 ouncers.
I have a feeling some people I spar with use 12 oz :-( On the bag I use bag gloves, which are 10 oz or something.
I have 2 pairs of gloves, 12oz and 160z, i only use the 16oz for sparring but use the 12oz for bag work, drills and sparring aswell. Our club isnt to fussed what gloves we use, we sort of look after each other a little bit anyway when we spar people from our own club. When we spar people from other clubs, its on..
No, 16's, better for conditioning and a must for sparring. I have a pair of 10s also which I will use in the week before my fight to get used to them but always 16s for sparring.
my mate who hits like a brick came to the club with some new gloves that were tiny i thought they was 10oz no joke. He starts hitting me with them and i coulndt feel it and after words we checked the was 16oz they was tiny couldnt believe it
The size isn't the deciding factor when it comes to weight. If you look at Winning gloves, they are all absolutely huge! The IMF tech gloves which I mentioned above are a small glove, yet they are available in 16oz. Personally, I like a snug fitting glove so I have been using Everlasy 'Sugar' gloves and IMF tech's for years now, but I won't use anything other than 16oz for training and sparring.
same here i use them title gel there realy cumfy gud support round wrist and they dnt cost that much either
