Buying gloves

Hi guys,
Brand new to the sport and I'm thinking of buying my own pair of gloves. I train 2* hour a week, just sparring and technique. At this stage no need to actually participate in fights.

My budget is around 80 USD and i was thinking of getting myself a pair of Windies or a domestic brand here in Belgium.

I would opt for a 12 or 14 OZ but I'm struggling with the sizes. I'm 1m98, quiet a big lad. Some sites offer the possibilities of picking sizes other just stick to the weight of the glove. Would anybody be so kind to clear this out for me. I'm currently traveling in Asia so will miss out regular practice sessions for the rest of the month. :think

 

Don't get 12 OZ, get 14 or 16 for the sake of ur hands and ur sparring partners face.

Ok will do so. Does the weight also reflects the size of the glove?

 

if you are big guy dont buy small gloves, nobody will spar with you in official matches, there are 10 or 12oz (without headgear 64kg+ category), but for training and sparring for 2m guy i would suggest to buy 16oz+ gloves.

You should buy 16 oz gloves, and as the size tends to increase with glove weight they will probably fit you. Don't buy on-line. Try them the gloves on before buying. Remember that the gloves will loosen up and give a bit after they are worn in. But remember you need some space to fit your wraps underneath. So don't buy something that is too tight a fit in the shop.
