Can't see a big pay check for fighting a bum on the undercard of Joshua fight

My thoughts too. Where are people getting that this is a big payday from? Hearn has said in the past that DAZN cards in the US pay more than UK cards on Sky and that's why Matchroom fighters keep asking him for run outs stateside but surely that applies to career undercarders like Coyle. I find it hard to believe Smith earns more on a Joshua undercard than his own show in the UK on a standard Sky show. As far as I know, the undercard boxers don't profit from the PPV buys, that's just for the headline fighter.

Good luck to the lad. He is 28 now so hitting his prime. If he can make a mark in America then fair enough but this just feels like a card filler to help with UK PPV buys. He will be back in Liverpool this year I rekon but i guess that Anfield fight with Canelo isn't happening! haha

Down the line this could be one of the best all time British match ups.

One of the most inactive fighters out there.

He gets a pass though as being the most tolerable of the awful Smith brothers.

I really like Smith but i worry he will end up like Brook wasting his best years fighting in non-conpetetive fights then fight a world better later on

I was just gonna say the same thing. I highly doubt there is more money for British fighters to fight on DAZN. More likely Hearn just needs them to pad out his cards since his US stable is so thin. He uses Jesse Vargas as a headliner ffs

I don’t think he needs Callum Smith to pad out this card. He’s already got Brook, Buatsi, Coyle and a few others. Callum was wanted to be on the Usyk undercard but instead has asked to be on this card from what I know. So obviously it pays well or he just feels it’s better exposure for his career?

I think it's more to do with encouraging Liverpool fans to go out to watch him and then add to the British support when Joshua fights. There's a reason why Hearn has stacked this as a USA v UK/Ireland kind of fight night. We all know Joshua has an enormous unprecedented casual support but will they go out to USA to back him? Why not stack the card with as many popular Brits possible and just lessen the pressure in that regard.

I know/understand your reasoning but I know for a fact that this isn’t Eddie’s wishes. Joe Gallagher was the one who stepped in and said we don’t want to be on the Usyk card. If anything it’s left Eddie light and short of options to now pad that card.

Fair enough, I won't doubt your sources since you broke the Canelo-Fielding fight before anyone here knew!

The one thing I don’t know is the reasoning, money? Exposure? Or think they’re too good for the other card?

It’s left Hearn in a bad position now anyway as the MSG card is stacked and he’s got absolutely nothing else for Usyk Takam as far as I’m aware.

Agreed. Joshua hasn't got that travelling support someone like Hatton did for example. The Man City link helped hugely there of course.
