Enzo couldn't have taught him the basics he didn't know them himself- joe was taught by other people enzo just drilled him while joe stayed dedicated and beat overmatched opposition, a couple of 60/40's then claimed his greatness retiring before fighting anyone exceptional in their prime.

I wonder how his career would have panned out if he weren't trained by Enzo. He did win 3 ABA championships in 3 different weights with his father in his corner if I'm not mistaken.

i think his achievements are fantastic and his fathers lack of 'knowledge' was actually a positive and helped him fight in a way very natural to him.

In the UK it will be available on BBC Wales, which (I'm told) is Sky channel 972. I guess that means it will be available on the BBC iPlayer soon after broadcast. I doubt if it will be available via any other route unless the Beeb decide to sell a DVD box set.

Just set this to record on the Sky+ box for next week. Should be a decent watch.

Sounds like the first episode is just following Enzo around though. Although I'd imagine Joe will feature in the other episodes

The guy who ran the gym in Newbridge was a dedicated amateur trainer. He looked after Joe for the first few years before Enzo got involved.

Trust me- training a fighter from scratch is an entirely different proposition to training someone whose fundamentals are in place.

Just a reminder that The Calzaghe Clan documentary series starts on BBC1 Wales (Sky channel 972) tonight at 10.35pm.

The "bleep" machine is in overdrive for this one.

How long before Enzo shouts ''Here me now''?

    I reckon about 13 seconds.

yeh showed a bit of boxing. was quite intresting. his story is incredible when you think about.

Jeff i think your a like every other "boxing person" who gets annoyed at the fact Enzo taught his son how to become a world champion with no expirience. Natural talent, heart and hard work count for a lot more in this sport than anything you learn in the gym

By the sounds of Joe's book, Enzo pushed him to train to an almost cruel extent. Worked though :yep
