OK, let mecome clean. I am a very big Joe fan and live about 10 miles from him here in South Wales.

All through his career, Joe has been accused of not stepping into the ring with the real big names at the top of the division and ducking fights.

I have always seen it the other way and believed that the big names avoided Joe on his way up because he was real threat, with the ability, duarability and punch to strip titles and deflate reputations.

45 and 0 tells us something......but how much?

Is he a legend? Or a clever sham merchant?

Most of you guys are 'the other side of the pond' so interested to hear your opinions.

.....but there always seems to be an excuse to stop him getting his due credit. Even his total destruction of Lacy was never really bigged up.

Can't look back like that. Joe dismantled a very physical and intimidating fighter in Lacy. If Lacy hasn't been the same since, some of that sure can be attributed to Calzaghe's destruction and not simply Joe being exposed.

I think Kessler's already proven he's a hell of a fighter and a hell of a tough guy. He hasn't been mentally affected by the loss to Joe and is still a top name in his division.

Joe is a top fighter, no doubt.

    Why should anyone care?

When you talk of "Legends" and "Greats" you make completely hypothetical comparisons that are impossible to verify.

What you can verify is his record, his wins, his overcoming fighters that many respected individuals thought that he would probably lose to, etc.

Lots think that Jones has a good chance here, and if Joe puts on a top notch winning performance, there is not much more to say.

  8. Just stop trolling please. Jones might still win there's no need to try discredting Joe at this stage ok.

The answer depends on whether he wins or loses tonight.

I agree. Although I was never that big on Lacy myself, there's definitely been a lot of revisionism on that fight.

Sham, I don't care if he wins tonight, the guy is a cherry picker who hid out until the Lacy fight, now he ending his career with back to back fights with old men he could have and should have fought long ago.
