I don't understand how anyone can say that Calzaghe would give Pavlik a lesson???? Just on the once removed common opponent: Hopkins - Taylor: Hopkins - Calzaghe comparisons. To be quite honest with you, I think Pavlik would KO Calzaghe.

I think a win over Pavlik is much better than RJJ at this stage. Calzaghe will also look good against Kelly as he is stylitically made for him. Calzaghe chews up aggressive guys and spits them out.

Calzaghe UD, maybe even a late TKO.

As far as Calzaghe-Pavlik, I think this fight would give each fighter more competition than they had faced before. I am a fan of both- Pavlik since he came out of nowhere to take out J.T. and Joe since he has proven his doubters wrong at every turn and is still undefeated. Plus, he's got that fast style which you may call slappy, but he still has more coordination and better reaction time (speaking of being high) than almost anyone. I don't really have a call, but if I had to bet I'd pick Joe on the cards- he is just so good at making adjustments during fights and making sure that at the end of the day he goes home with a win...
If Joe took out Jones and Pavlik, then he'd be one of the best fighters of our era, like Hopkins is. With victories over Lacy and Hopkins, he already is the best super middleweight ever...

Rahman beat Lewis, who beat Tyson, who beat Holmes, who beat Ali, so that must mean Rahman would KO Ali right....?

Dont be daft, Styles make fights and pavlik would be outclassed.

i agree with you on this, i just feel pavlik is a little to untested against a mighty calzaghe, i think joe will see how the fight against lockett with go, as joe is good freiends with lockett.

Just wondering: Would Joe be more or less willing to fight Pavlik if Pavlik wins easily against Lockett???

After Pavlik blows Lockett out, Joe will be even more hesitant to talk about Pavlik than he was last night.

All this talk I'm always hearing about Calzaghe "adapting" is just that, just talk. He is always open for right hands and left hooks. Joe does speed up and slow down, but he never really changes his approach. He rushes in with his head down and throws a bunch of slaps. That **** won't even buy him a blink against Pavlk. Another thing I don't get is why do people keep saying Joe has such a great chin? Imagine where Joe would be now if the right hand in round one had come from Pavlk, Abraham, or miranda. Edison Miranda may not be able to land shots like that on joe, but you can bet your ****ing mortage payment that pavlik would.

Pavlik might have the goods to beat Joe. Joe is ageing, has bad hands and time is running out for him, as it does for everyone in the ring. He got dropped last night and Pavlik has the youth, rangy style, natural fighting spirit and punching power to trouble Calzaghe.

When I say Joe adapts, he seems to start slow until he figures out what he wants to do. But he does get credit for shots that mean NOTHING. Watch the HBO footage. He does that little 'speed thing' where he claims to throw 9 'punches' per second? Then watch one of his 'stoppages' where he is doing that to an opponent and the ref actually stops the fight! The look on the opponents face is priceless.

I'm a big fan of Calzaghe, but I really think that Pavlik has what it takes to beat him.

Everybody is expecting Pavlik to blow Lockett out early, he isnt in the same league. i dont see how a win over Lockett dictates to the outcome of a fight between Pavlik and Calzaghe.

Cotto, Margarito, Gamboa, Pavlik, and a few other are the future of boxing. The robo-dane is the future of Friday Night fights.
