He really needs one more fight to prove how great he really is.I am a fan but come on are you really going to leave the sport after beating a washed up roy jones? His performance was great and it erased a lot of question marks that came about after the hopkins fight,but retiring after beating a guy way past his prime to me doesn't say he retired on top.I bet all you guys are going to give me **** for saying this but it's true.Now if he takes a final fight in wales against an undefeated chad dawson and beats him which i know he will because dawson isn't ready for calzaghe, that's making a huge statement.Retiring undefeated with the light heavyweight championship and having your last fight at your home,it doesn't get any better than that.He beats dawson and it shows he's the best because there wouldn't be much competition left out there for him.
Many would just say he beat an unproven, overated nobody who got a gift decision over 39 year old Glen Johnson. The only question mark after the Hopkin's debacle is why Bernard hasn't gone into acting. His feigning of non-existent low blows was academy award winning acting. He'd win the oscar for sure. Joe should retire on top and undefeated. He crushed Roy Jones Jr. in Madison Square gardens in a beautiful display of boxing. Great ending to a great career and a final victory on American soil seals the deal.
has anybody seen the video when he says he would not fight jones jr in his last fight and he admits that he is way past his best, and kinda laughs. somebody posted the video a while ago. what a hypocrit.
I dont get it...A fighter wants to retire and people say that he shouldnt, if a fighters wants to fight on people say he shouldnt. I think if Joe dont want to do it anymore then let him retire.
Good grief, Joe's pushing age 40 and people want him to keep on fighting to prove something. He is undefeated in a long stellar career, the greatest supermiddleweight of all time and a damn fine lightheavy. He can no longer get motivated to train so he is doing the right thing by retiring on top.
I agree. Slappy Joe shouldn't retire because I want to see him get in the ring with someone who isn't old enough to collect social security.

he doesnt HAVE to fight anyone.. but..i cant see him retiring for good without that huge final night at the millenium stadium.
